2014 Winter Solstice Celebration

Our Winter Solstice gatherings are always our smallest, but that never stops us from having a wonderful time!  I honestly think that this Winter Solstice was the best.  The ritual went really well, and I enjoyed doing it in the dark because it really emphasized the candles we lit.

For favors, I decorated baby food jars with glass paint markers. It’s hard to see in this photo, but there is a spiral sun and little snowflakes. We did some energy work during our ritual to charge the candles. (Photo by Grey Catsidhe, 2014).

We did our traditional Druid gift exchange.  There were so many wonderful gifts given – incense, incense holders, candles, homemade smudge wands, and even a gorgeous homemade Earth Mother doll.

In the spirit of giving, we also collected some items for our local SPCA. We put them under Kripalu Yoga Center’s holiday tree and next to Buddha. It seemed fitting. (Photo by Grey Catsidhe, 2014).

Finally, we had a delicious feast! There was so much good food… Veggie pot-pies, a vegetarian roast, pumpkin chili, veggie lasagna, fruit salad, and homemade rolls.  For dessert, there was an assortment of cream cheese pastries, cookies, and even pecan pie! Thanks to everyone who came – including our new friends!  Hope to see you again.

My husband makes a fantastic pecan pie. He also helped me decorate the veggie pot-pies so match our potluck theme: “a feast of ice and fire.”(Photo by Grey Catsidhe, 2014)
